Since its introduction in 2004, Gmail has been gaining popularity among internet users. With the decline of AOL, Hotmail and Yahoo, more and more people are moving to Google services. Create a New Gmail Account is a flexible option as it allows you to access emails from any computer as long as the computer has internet access. Creating a new Gmail account is quick and easy. On top of having access to your emails, you also have access to other Google products for example Google Plus, YouTube and Google Drive. The following is a step by step procedure on how to create a new Gmail account.

Step 1: Open up your internet browser

You have to ensure that your computer has internet access before you start opening your browser. Open you internet browser and go to the Google home page. You can do this by typing www.google.co.uk. This is the official Google home page.

Step 2: Click on Gmail at the top right hand corner of the home page.

This will take you to the sign in section. But since you do not have a Google account, you must create a new Gmail account first. On the sign in section, click on the blue Create an account button below the sign in box. This will take you to the Create your Google Account page.

Step 3: Create your account

In the Create a New Gmail Account page, there are several areas that need to be filled. These areas include Name; where you are required to fill your name, then the Choose your user name area, where you are required to choose a username that you will use for example iwriter00@gmail.com. Your username will become your new Gmail email address. You need to have a backup user name handy in case your preferred username is already taken. However, if the username is not available you will be given several related options to choose from.

Step 4: Come up with a password

After successfully coming up with a username, you will need to also come up with a password. This password allows you to log in securely to your account. It is recommended that you come up with a password that has at least 8 characters. These characters should include both letters and numbers. This is aimed at making the password more secure and difficult to guess. You will be required to re-enter the password to ensure that it is you who is choosing it and not a robot.

Step 5: Fill out the rest of the required information

For age verification, you will be required to enter you birthday, your gender, telephone number just in case you lose access to your account and a verification email address. The mobile phone number is recommended but it is not required. It is used by Google to send you a text in order to recover the access to your account in case you lose it.

Step 6: Complete the CAPTCHA

This is basically a verification tool that ensures that a real human is creating the account. However, if you cannot read the text you can get a new text or click on the speaker button to listen and type what is set as the CAPTCHA code.

Step 7: Enter the country you reside in

After completing the CAPTCHA, you will have to enter the country in which you reside in. this is aimed at making Google friendly to you.

Step 8: Agree to the privacy policy

Take time to carefully read the entire private policy to familiarize yourself with what Google can do and cannot do with your personal information. Then check the box; if you are okay and agree with the Google terms.

Step 8: Click next step

Once you have clicked Next Step, you will be taken to your Google+ profile creation page. Google plus is Google’s social network. Here you can choose to have or not to add a picture to your account. You can also choose whether or not you want your information shared on Google plus.

Step 9: Click Next Step again

You have finally created your Gmail account. You can choose to return to your Gmail account or visit other Google services available to you.
